Collection: German Items

Stand in the Door 1944's primary focus is and always will be on American involvement during WWII.  However, a major part of the American experiences during WWII was of course coming face to face with German weapons an other implements of war.  At times that involved not only fighting against those weapons but, at times, actually using those very weapons to fight the enemy.  Many pictures can be found of GI's using German small arms and grenades.  Additional souvenir hunting was also a major part of the American experience during the war.

It is with this idea in mind that we have created our German line of products.  While these products can indeed be used by allied reenactors as captured souvenirs they can and should be used primarily by German reenactors to help complete their impressions.

We at SID44 are very sensitive to the fact that German imagery can lead to some very mixed feelings particularly of people of the Jewish faith and we want to honor that as much as we can by covering over various Nazi imagery on our website.  However, we do believe that actually having the real symbols displayed on our German items is a critical part of historic authenticity.  Omitting, denying, or concealing these symbols constitutes a form of historical distortion and censorship which we believe is extremely dangerous.  The Nazis did horrific things during WWII but to ignore and/or censor the truth about what happened during the war, while painful, will lead to those horrific things happening again.

The use of Nazi symbols on our German products is not intended to promote or endorse Nazi ideology in any way, but rather to serve as an educational tool to preserve the facts of history.
