Over the years Standinthedoor1944 has done several runs of replica German M43 stick grenades but our newest generation of M43’s (as of 11-18-25) are nothing short of remarkable.  Hands down these replicas are some of the most historically accurate and by far the most durable replicas to have ever been made.  These replicas are made of milled aluminum, milled steel, and wood and can not be made to explode.

These replicas are a proper shade of "ordinance tan" and are roll stamped with black ink.  The black "K" on the side of the can we replicated directly from an original and stand for "Kalt" (english translation="Cold").  After Germany's first winters on the eastern front they found that the explosive charges they were using in there grenades were not detonating due to the extreme cold temperatures found in Russia.  As a solution the Germans started manufacturing some of their grenades with Donarit which was designed to function in subzero temperatures.  Many of the M43 mashers were filled with Donarit and were used extensively in the winter of 1944/45.

Features include:

  1. "Can" is milled from solid aluminum to the exact size and shape of an original
  2.  All metal part dimensions were confirmed using a caliper to ensure the highest degree of accuracy from the original parts
  3. Top of the cans are metal stamped with proper manufacturer coding and manufacturing date (44 Fcc)(Hermann Nier Metal Goods Factory manufactured in 1944).
  4. Replica M39 fuze assembly is solid milled aluminum
  5. M39 fuze "wings" are stamped steel with properly marked nomenclature
  6. Threaded head on top of the wooded shaft is milled steel and secured with extra reinforcing to support the weight of the head
  7. Proper black "K" roll stamping
  8. Weight is approximately 1 lbs 13 ounces
  9. Raw wood handles

Our new M43 mashers are precision made of aluminum, steel, and wood and are not available from any other vendor in the world.  These have been built from the ground up, piece by piece to make them nearly indistinguishable originals in terms of looks.

Compared to the cheap reproductions found on the market today, there is really competition.  On all other cheap repos the heads are too small, they lack any authentic markings, they come in a horrible shade of green that was never used on German equipment, and are 1/3 the weight.

Another authenticity problem you run into with cheap reproduction potato mashers is the handles.  95% of cheap repos masher handles have a super thick shiny finish on the handles, this is utter hog wash.  Original mashers were designed as a one time use item and thus the German military could care less if the handles had a nice shiny finish on them.  Handles on original M24’s and M39's coming out of the factory were left as raw unfinished wood.  You see various kinds of woods used on original handles and some have a darker shade while others have a lighter shade but they were all raw unfinished wood.

Item not for sale outside the United States.

*While these replicas are extremely tough they are not intended to be thrown.  These are designed to be worn with your impression into the field and are built to with stand years or reenactor use but throwing they may result in negative results.  Stand in the Door is not responsible for any damage to the replica, damage to property, or bodily harm inflicted to a person or animal should you choose to throw this replica.*

****Note that the nomenclature on these replicas is roll stamped using a rubber stamp the same way they were during WWII.  However roll stamping is an imperfect process.  Some numbers and letters may be missed or smudged.  This is an acceptable manufacturer error because original manufactures had the exact same problem.  If you are wanting a perfect example with perfectly crisp stamping it would be easy for you to repaint them and apply the nomenclature with stencils which could provide a finish to your liking.****

****While the cans on these replicas can be unscrewed to disassemble the replica they should be left in their assembled state.  Unscrewing the rescrewing the cans onto the rain cap can result in stripping the threads and preventing the can from being reinstalled securely. Stand in the Door is not responsible for any damage you may inflict to this replica or to yourself or others should you choose to take it apart****

****Should the can and rain cap ever start to wobble on top of the wooden handle you can unscrew the can carefully to reveal the wood screw in the top of the rain cap.   Remove the woodscrew with a screw driver and select a screw of your choice that is slightly longer.  Predrill the hole in the handle with a bit then install the new screw with a screwdriver.  Failing to predrill the hole will most likely result in splitting the wood handle.   Stand in the Door is not responsible for any damage you may inflict to this replica or to yourself or others should you choose to make this modification****
