After the tremendous success of our "ultimate" parachute first aid kits we wanted to go one step further and create a small batch of pouches made with original WWII fabric that have the same contents found in originals. These are some of if not thee most accurate parachute first aid kits that have ever been made.
95% of all parachute first aid kits being reproduced today are absolutely horrible. Most of them use incorrect fabric and webbing in the wrong colors and they are filled with wadded up fabric that makes them not even close to the same shape and size of an original packet.
Dan McBride of F/502 was the first veteran to bring this to our attention and we sought out to make the best reproduction packet we could possibly make.
Each first aid kits includes-
- Original fabric rubberized cotton pouch sized and patterned off an original.
- Proper color and shade HBT webbing ties
- Reproduction Paper Morphine and Torniquet instruction pamphlet
- Original "camouflage" No. 2-017-435 first aid dressing inside a reproduction "Handy Pad Supply Co. box.
- Reproduction Sulfanilamide packet
- Reproduction tourniquet in cardstock sleeve
- Reproduction morphine syrette
- Reproduction morphine box
- Proper size and location zig zag stitching
- Proper size and style text font.
To make these pouches, we first tackled the task of recreating the proper construction of the pouch itself. We used original cotton fabric with rubberized backing to match the original packets. We coupled that with the proper shade/color/style HBT webbing ties.
Next came the contents. Every single item inside our packets was replicated side by side with original items. Original bandages in these packets were made by a number of different companies but the one inside the original that we used was made by Handy Pad Supply Co. We had reproduction boxes made to match the original size nomenclature exactly then we filled them with original No. 2-017-435 "camouflage" (AKA brown) first aid dressings. These bandages are still in side their sterilized packaging.
The Morphine boxes we made of heavy cardstock using original artwork/nomenclature and they were filled with 3D printed morphine syrettes that feature the bent steel "puncture wire" inside a clear safety sleeve and proper morphine label on the syrette itself
We recreated our torniquets side by side to an original Red Cross using the proper length/width/weight webbing and a blacked steel torniquet buckle. The paper instruction pamphlet and Sulfanilamide packet were also recreated directly from originals.
The Parachutist first aid kit was originally designed for pilots and aircrew but were quickly issued to paratroopers and can be seen being used by them as early as Operation Torch (1942) and were used throughout the war.
**** NOTE as of 2-2-26 we have decided to stop "dirt aging" our repo fabric first aid kits. This was an extra step that prevents us from restocking these pouches in a timely manor and is something anyone can do. We highly recommend rubbing a bit of dirt on these pouches because these first aid kits were commonly being issued in "used" condition. Because these pouches contained morphine (which was a closely regulated substance do to its addictive properties) these pouches were supposed to be collected from each paratrooper and aircrew member whom they were issued to after they returned from the combat area. Then when the unit was being deployed on another combat mission they would reissue the first aid kits.****
