When performing real parachute operations one of the most painful things you can do upon landing is perform a PLF (parachute landing fall) on top of your canteen.  In military jump operations (especially in combat) this is an accepted risk beings that troopers need water to perform their duties.  However in civilian jump operation with the WWII Airborne Demonstration Team, jumping with a soft canteen can help prevent undue injury on the drop zone.

These canteens are also ideal for stunt work in films where landing on a metal canteen could cause the performer injury.

These "stunt" canteens are cast directly off of an original WWII issue canteen out of a "self skinning" foam rubber.  The self skinning foam makes it so we can apply a metallic finish to the foams surface to make it nearly indistinguishable from a real canteen.  We chose to replicate an original canteen with an aluminum cap because these canteens can be seen in every jump operation in WWII where as the black Bakelite cap canteens were not available or were very rare during the jump operations taking place in the early stages of the war.

Not only do these foam canteens help prevent injury, they also provide a little extra "padding" on those rough landings.

****NOTE THAT THE CANTEEN COVER PICTURED IN THIS LISTING IS NOT INCLUDED WITH THE FOAM CANTEEN.  THESE CANTEENS ARE SOLID FOAM AND CANNOT BE FILLED WITH WATER AND THE CAPS ARE NOT REMOVABLE.  IF YOUR CANTEEN COVER IS OVERSIZED SIMPLY ADD A WASHCLOTH OR CUT UP TSHIRT IN THE BOTTOM OF YOUR CANTEEN COVER TO PUSH THE CANTEEN THE THE TOP OF THE POUCH****
