Crosses, Crucifixes', and Stars of David were commonly worn on or alongside military dog tags to give soldiers a reminder of their faith in the midst of the toughest situations life could throw at them. Faith was a cornerstone in the lives of many WWII veterans as it is for many who have served our country, the same is true for us at Stand in the Door 1944. That is why it is our pleasure to bring you these beautiful "dog tag" crosses. Cut and polished from stainless steel, these crosses were designed specifically by us to fit perfectly with USGI dog tags.
Our previous crosses were very well received by the community but they were a bit smaller than we wanted. Our new crosses are a bit larger measuring approximately 13/16"x1 1/5" which fits nicely inside the profile of a dog tag. Additionally we made the crosses large enough for the dog tag chain so we could get rid of the "jump ring" design which allows the cross to sit flush against the face of the dog tag so there are no sharp edges poking you in the chest.
Many troops in WWII would tape or band their dog tags together to keep them from making undo noise. Be sure and check out our black engineer and white "medical" tape for a historically accurate way to secure your tags.

****These crosses are stainless steel and are not plated with real silver and because of that these crosses may have slight imperfections. These are meant to be worn with dog togs in rough field conditions and are not designed as fine high priced jewelry so slight imperfections are the norm, not the exception. The dog tags, chain, tag and rubber band featured in this listing are for scale reference only and are not included in this sale.****
