"Airborne" 1911 pouch- Original Material
Of course there was no "official" airborne 1911 pouches. Troopers simply used what they were issued, however extensive pictorial research shows that this style of 1911 pouch was overwhelmingly common in both the 82nd and 101st Airborne for both the Normandy and Holland campaigns. These pouches were so common in fact that you are hard pressed to find any of the other styles being used (although you can find a handful). I can't tell you why these pouches were so common other than these were simply what were in the greatest supply in 1944.
This pouch, while similar to the WWI American made 1911 pouch produced by the American Mills Company, these WWII pouches were actually made in England by the British Mills Equipment Company (M.E.Co). Some British manufacturers would make these with the "dot" fastener on the back beltloop while others did not. We have decided to offer both styles. Each pouch is made using original WWII USGI webbing and stitched together with our custom made heavy duty thread and assembled with genuine American Scovill fasteners
Features:
- Original USGI Cotton webbing
- Stitched with custom heavy duty thread
- Genuine American Scovill fasteners
Note: The magazines pictured in this listing are for reference only and are not included in this sale. These pouches are made to hold two 1911 7-round USGI magazines. While other magazines may fit into these pouches we cannot guarantee any other magazines will fit other that USGI 7-round magazines.
