Reusable "Grenade Tape" Retaining Band

Taping MKII hand grenade spoons with black engineer tape was a very common practice in WWII and the practice should be just as common in the reenacting world.

However taping your replica MKII hand grenades after every event you attend can be a little annoying and it costs you money.  We came up with the idea of using a black rubber retaining band and it works perfectly.  These bands are the same width as WWII black engineer tape (1") and they easily pass the "5' rule."

These bands fit around the body of a MKII grenade and holds the spoon tightly against the side of the grenade making it nearly impossible for it to fall off of your kit.  Keep in mind that it takes a bit of finger strength and a good 60 seconds of work to get these bands around the grenade and once in place they will not come loose on their own.

Note: This is not a historically accurate method of securing grenades but visually these bands are almost indistinguishable from black fabric tape from a few feet away making these a more cost effective and stronger way to secure your MKII's to your gear.
